It’s an exciting time in Rochester, Minnesota, as the downtown area is transforming with billions of dollars of investments being made in Mayo Clinic facilities, public infrastructure and more.
Among the projects is Mayo Clinic’s Bold. Forward. Unbound. initiative, a multiyear, $5 billion project that is reimagining the downtown Rochester campus with five new buildings, related infrastructure and utilities. Another major project is Rochester’s Link Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), which will provide free rides along the 2nd Street SW corridor with the full launch of the service expected in early 2027.

Find Construction Updates and Travel Impacts
A new website displays updates for all downtown construction projects and tips to get around the area. DowntownRochesterConstruction.org has vehicle, bicycle and pedestrian maps in downloadable, printable and online formats with the latest updates on road closures and detours.
Project overviews and weekly updates on their progress are also available.
The website is an ongoing collaboration between the City of Rochester, Destination Medical Center and Mayo Clinic.
Prepare for Mayo Clinic Appointments
Mayo Clinic also has a website specifically for patients with appointments at the downtown campus, offering real-time updates related to downtown Rochester construction and any travel impacts: https://www.mayoclinic.org/rochester-construction
The website allows users to select the site of their first Mayo Clinic appointment, and then receive information on where to park or drop off patients as well as the availability of valet services. The site also provides updates on road closures and recommended travel routes.
