There are two convenient air options when visiting Rochester, MN:

The Rochester International Airport (RST) provides direct flights to Atlanta, Minneapolis, and Chicago, and connecting flights to more than 640 destinations. Daily full-sized jet service is provided by American, Delta, and United.

RST was recently renovated and features an on-site restaurant, rental car services, and shuttle services that will take you on the 10-20 minute drive to your hotel. Many visitors fly into RST because of its uncrowded atmosphere and the ease of getting through security screenings,finding your gate and claiming your checked luggage.  A friendly, welcoming airport with a commitment to de-stressing the travel experience, RST recently launched the Caring Tails Pet Therapy program!  

The Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport (MSP) located 90 miles from Rochester, is another quick and easy option for air service. Daily van shuttle service is available dozens of times each day from MSP to Rochester, with shuttle-drop off at a number of Rochester hotels and other locations. Flying into MSP is a convenient, popular choice for many visitors.

Drive to Rochester

Rochester, MN is located a few miles off the heavily trafficked I-90 and is easily accessible for visitors who choose to drive to the city. Approximate driving times to Rochester are:

  • 80 minutes from Minneapolis/St.Paul, MN
  • 3 hours from Des Moines, IA
  • 5-1/2 hours from Chicago, IL


Take the Train to Rochester

Amtrak provides daily train service between Chicago and the Pacific Northwest. The train departs from the Amtrak depot in Winona, located about 45 miles east of Rochester. Daily bus/shuttle is available to and from the train depot on Carefree Shuttle.

Jefferson Bus Lines offers service from Rochester to many cities and it connects to Greyhound in Minneapolis.
