The upcoming "Music & Dance" exhibition features dancer and musician sculptures created by Charles E. Gagnon throughout his artistic career. With the rich sounds of Broadway musicals, ballets, and classical music inspiring his work, Gagnon cast a series of sculptures that capture the fluidity and emotion of dance in the otherwise permanent medium of bronze. His musical sculptures too rely on realistic movements. The figures in his personal masterpiece "String Quartet" cradle their instruments and move at one with the music in a manner strikingly familiar to visiting musicians. This new exhibition offers even more visitors a chance to experience the real and invigorating movements of dance and music indoors and in the Sculpture Garden, where Gagnon’s bronzes mimic the symphony of nature that surrounds them and beckon visitors to become one with nature, music, and art all at once.
