After 13 years as Executive Director of Experience Rochester MN (formerly the Rochester MN Convention & Visitors Bureau), Brad Jones has announced his acceptance of a new position as Executive Director of Visit Bellevue in Washington state.
Jones joined Experience Rochester MN in January 2005 from Mackinaw City, MI where he served as Executive Director for the Mackinaw Area Visitors Bureau for ten years. Throughout his tenure in Rochester he has served in various roles with numerous community organizations and boards, most recently as an ex-officio board member of the Rochester Downtown Alliance and Rochester MN Sports (formerly the Rochester Amateur Sports Commission) and Chair of the Rochester Arts and Cultural Trust. He was appointed to the MN Tourism Council by both governors Pawlenty and Dayton and is an active supporter of the Meet in Minnesota initiative. He is a respected leader and representative of Minnesota’s travel industry and was recognized in 2016 as Explore MN Tourism’s Outstanding Individual in Tourism.
Since 2005, Jones has led Experience Rochester through twelve consecutive years of organizational growth and progress. Jones has contributed to the development of significant tourism-related projects in the Rochester, MN area such as securing state and local support of the convention center expansion at Mayo Civic Center and inclusion of hospitality as a new program pathway offered through Rochester Community and Technical College’s CTECH/STEM Center. His efforts have also supported advocacy, development, and delivery of multiple aspects of Rochester's Destination Medical Center initiative.
“I am very proud of our sales, marketing and visitor experience programs. They are the backbone of what we have focused on for several years. Experience Rochester’s team has consistently increased annual sales in the past 13 years. In addition, our team has played a key role in destination development efforts that support our hospitality businesses and help position Rochester as a great place to visit. We’ve advocated for increased air service as well as developing and growing the downtown visitor experience. Seeing so much progress in these areas has been very rewarding,” shares Jones.
Experience Rochester’s board of directors will be meeting to compose a plan for the organization’s transition. Jones’ last day at Experience Rochester will be August 15.
